If Congress does not pass and the President doesn’t sign the full fiscal year Federal budget before 14 days prior to the start of the next fiscal year – the current year budget is automatically used multiplied by 1+(the latest annual Cost-of-living index), applied for ALL budget categories.

Pass the budget for the entire fiscal year – the MOST important item of the very few things Congress is required to do.

And yet, now they will only pass part of a budget for part of a year – repeatedly – all for political advantage, while it disrupts the government’s functioning and causes all sorts of unnecessary effort jumping through hoops, for the agencies, and for the contractors.

If budget areas need adjusting, it would be better if Congress and the President modified them as needed, rather than a sweeping standard change for all budget areas.
